A supporter of swadeshi values in art.
Founder of Indian Society of Oriental Art.
The painting 'My Mother' was painted by Abanindranath Tagore in 1912-13.
It is a miniature painting decorated with an ornamental border.
It was painted by Abanindranath Tagore after the death of his mother.
He was also the first major exponent of Swadeshi values in Indian art and thus established the influential art school in Bengal which led to the development of modern Indian painting.
He also wrote books like Rajkahini, Budo Angla, Nalak, and Khirer Putul are landmarks in Bengali language children's literature.
In 1942, he became Chancellor of Visva Bharati.
