- Newton’s Second Law: The rate of change of linear momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external force applied on the body and this change takes place always in the direction of the applied force.
Which comes out as,
Force = mass × acceleration
Calculation:
Given,
Acceleration (a) = 9.8 m/s2
Weight of the body = 9.8 N
Since, Weight of the body = mg
⇒ Mass = Weight/g = 9.8/9.8 = 1 kg
We know that,
F = m × a
⇒ F = 1 kg × 9.8 m/s2
⇒ F = 9.8 Newton
Hence the amount of force required is 9.8 Newton.
