Question
Download Solution PDFIf the Perimeter of square is 40 cm. What is the diagonal of square?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Perimeter = 40 cm
Formula used:
Perimeter = 4 × Side
Diagonal = Side√2
Calculation:
Let the side be x cm.
Perimeter = 4 × Side
⇒ 40 = 4x
⇒ x = 10 cm
In Δ BCD,
By using Pythagoras theorem
BC2 = CD2 + BD2
⇒ BC2 = x2 + x2
⇒ BC2 = 2 × 102
⇒ BC2 = 200
⇒ BC = 10√2 cm
∴ The diagonal of square is 10√2 cm.
Alternate solution:
Perimeter = 4 × Side
⇒ 40 = 4 × Side
⇒ Side = 10 cm
Diagonal = Side√2
⇒ Diagonal = 10√2 cm
∴ Diagonal is 10√2 cm.
