Download Solution PDFIn the first hall, there are 396 children who have 5 marbles each and 225 children who have 7 marbles each. 198 children with 5 marbles each and 225 children with 7 marbles each are taken to the second hall from the first hall. What will be the ratio of the number of marbles in the second hall to that in the first hall?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Number of students in the first hall having 5 marbles = 396
Number of students in the first hall having 7 marbles = 225
Number of children with 5 marbles who moved to the second hall = 198
Number of children with 7 marbles who moved to the second hall = 225
Calculation:
Number of marbles in second hall = (225 × 7 + 198 × 5)
Number of marbles in the first hall = {(396 - 198) × 5} = 198 × 5
Hence, The ratio of the number of marbles in the second hall to that in the first hall
⇒ (225 × 7 + 198 × 5)/(198 × 5)
⇒ [(1575 + 990)/(990)]
⇒ (2565/990) = 57 : 22
∴ The required ratio is 57 ∶ 22.
