Question
Download Solution PDFLength of each side of a rhombus is 13 cm and one of the diagonal is 24 cm. What is the area (in cm2) of the rhombus ?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Side (a) of rhombus = 13 cm
Length of one diagonal (p) = 24 cm
Formulas used:
a = (p2 + q2 )1/2÷ 2
Area of rhombus = 1/2 × p × q
Calculation:
Let the other diagonal of rhombus = q
⇒ (242 + q2)1/2 ÷ 2 = 13
⇒ (576 + q2)1/2 = 26
⇒ 576 + q2 = (26)2
⇒ 676 - 576 = q2
⇒ q = √100 = 10
Area = 1/2 × 24 × 10 = 120 cm2
∴ The correct answer is 120 cm2.
