  • हा अ‍ॅक्ट 1833 चा सेंट हेलेना अ‍ॅक्ट म्हणूनही ओळखला जातो.

  • बंगालचे गव्हर्नर-जनरल हे भारताचे गव्हर्नर-जनरल बनले.

  • लॉर्ड विल्यम बेंटिंक हे भारताचे पहिले गव्हर्नर-जनरल बनले.

  • गव्हर्नर-जनरलच्या परिषदेत कायदा सदस्य म्हणून चौथ्या सदस्याची भर घालण्यात आली परंतु केवळ कायद्याच्या उद्देशाने तात्पुरते सदस्य म्हणून. (लॉर्ड मॅकॉले हे पहिले कायदा सदस्य होते)

  • या कायद्याने भारतातील शिक्षणाच्या प्रसारासाठी दरवर्षी एक लाख रुपये अनुदान देण्याची तरतूद केली होती.

  • या कायद्याने स्थानिक सरकारांना कर लादण्याचा आणि वसूल करण्याचा अधिकार दिला.

  • ख्रिश्चन मिशनऱ्यांना ब्रिटिश भारतात प्रवेश करण्याची आणि ख्रिश्चन धर्म प्रचार करण्याची परवानगी देण्यात आली.

  • कंपनीच्या कारभारावर देखरेख करण्यासाठी इंग्लंडमध्ये एक प्राधिकरण स्थापन केले. याला नियंत्रण मंडळ असे संबोधले गेले ज्यामध्ये 6 सदस्य होते.

  • युद्ध, महसूल आणि राजनैतिक बाबींमध्ये कौन्सिलमधील गव्हर्नर-जनरलला मुंबई आणि मद्रासच्या राज्यपालांपेक्षा अधिक अधिकार होते.

  • भारतात, कार्यकारी परिषदेची संख्या चारवरून तीन एवढी कमी करण्यात आली.

  • या कायद्यात पहिल्यांदाच 'भारतातील ब्रिटिश मालमत्ता' हा शब्द वापरला गेला.
