Earlier, the TNPSC Group 2 Notification was released for 645 vacancies. Interested candidates can apply between 15th July 2025 to 13th August 2025. A total of 50 vacancies have been announced for Group 2 Services and 595 vacancies are out for Group 2 A. The TNPSC Group 2 Recruitment 2025 will be a state-level examination in Tamil Nadu, India, for recruiting candidates to various Group 2 services such as Sub Registrar, Municipal Commissioner, and more. The TNPSC has released the vacancies for the 2025 cycle .TNPSC released TNPSC Group 2 vacancy for two types of posts i.e. Group II & group IIA posts. Across both these categories, a total of 659 vacancies have been released for the 2025 cycle. TNPSC Group 2 Selection Process 2025

The Combined Civil Services Examination - II (Group II and IIA Services) comprises of two successive stages (i) Common Preliminary Examination (ii) Separate Main examination for Group II and Group IIA Services, except for the post of Forester in Forest Department and TAFCORN for which selection will be made in three successive stages (i) Common Preliminary Examination (ii) Main Examination and (iii) Endurance Test.

Stage 1 - Preliminary Exam

The Preliminary Examination will serve as a screening test only and the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will be declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination & will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. The Prelims Exam will be of 300 Marks for both Group II and Group IIA Services. 

Stage 2 - Mains Exam 

The Main Examination for Group II Services will consist of two papers, out of which Paper I will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in paper II alone will be counted for ranking. while the Main Examination for Group IIA Services will also consist of two papers, out of which Paper I will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in paper II alone will be counted for ranking.

Stage 3 - Endurance Test

This Endurance Test will be for the post of Forester only. The Physical Standard Verification and Endurance Test consisting of a walk over 25 km and 16 km to be completed in four hours by male and female / third gender candidates respectively which will be conducted by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest.

TNPSC Group 2 Eligibility 2025 

Candidates applying for the TNPSC Group 2 Services Recruitment must ensure that they fulfill the required eligibility in terms of their age, qualification, experience, etc. The details of the TNPSC Group 2 Services Eligibility Criteria are given below.

• The minimum age limit & the maximum age limit varies for each of the posts of Group II and Group IIA Services.

TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus 2025 

The TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus 2025 for the Prelims exam will include General Studies (200 questions for 200 marks) and General Tamil (100 questions for 100 marks). The exam duration is 3 hours. In General Studies, questions will be asked from Current Affairs, History of India, Geography of India, Indian Polity & Economy, General Science, Environmental Issues, etc. The questions will be objective type with multiple choices.

The Mains exam syllabus includes two papers – Paper 1 has 100 marks for Tamil Eligibility Test with objective type questions. Paper 2 is for General Studies with 200 questions carrying 1.5 marks each totaling 300 marks. The General Studies paper will have questions from History of Tamil Nadu, Indian Polity & Constitution, Indian Economy, General Science, Environmental Issues, International Events, Five Year Plans, etc.

The minimum pay scale offered as part of the TNPSC Group 2 Salary & Job Profile is Rs. 20,600- Rs. 65,900 and maximum pay scale is Rs. 37,400- Rs. 119,500. Allowances such as DA, HRA will also be admissible.
