Concept:

Specific heat or specific heat capacity of a body:

  • The amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of a unit mass of a body through 1° C (or K) is called the specific heat of the material of the body.
  • It is generally denoted by C.

⇒ Q = mC∆T

Where Q = heat required, ∆T = change in temperature and m = mass of the body.

Calculation:

Given:

mass of iron block, m = 200 g, the specific heat capacity of iron, c = 450 Jkg-1K-1

Temp difference =  60 - 30 = 30°C

Q = mcΔT

Heat transfer,

Q = 0.2 × 450 × 30

Q = 2700 J

Thus, option (3) is correct answer.
