Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The sales of an article increase by 50% every week.
The difference between the sales in the third week and the second week is 600.
Concept used:
Incremented/Reduced value = Initial value (1 ± change%)
Calculation:
Let the sales of the articles be N in the first week.
Sales in the second week = N + N × 50% = 1.5N
Sales in the third week = 1.5N + 1.5N × 50% = 2.25N
According to the question,
2.25N - 1.5N = 600
⇒ 0.75N = 600
⇒ N = 600/0.75
⇒ N = 800
Now, the sales in the third week = 2.25 × 800 = 1800
∴ The sales in the third week are 1800.
