The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Dress Code for JEE Main, you can find the dress code along with other guidelines in the information bulletin released by the NTA.
To appear for the JEE Main 2025 from April 2 to April 9, 2025, you must follow the Dress Code provided by the NTA, failure to do so might impact your entry to the exam centre. There are chances that candidate with inappropriate dress code will not be allowed to sit for the examination. JEE Main Dress Code for Males
All the male aspirants who are appearing for the JEE Main 2025 are advised to follow the Dress Code provided by NTA which is stated below.
- Male candidates are strongly advised against wearing any cloth consisting of metallic items. Metallic items can cause problems during frisking; thus, they must avoid—for example, belts, wallets, etc.
- Candidates are advised to wear half-sleeves and comfortable clothes to avoid any problems while writing the exam. Avoid clothes with drapes.
- Candidates must not wear a cap or muffler or any cloth over their heads.
- Wearing any jewellery or ornaments is strictly prohibited.
- Candidates must not wear goggles, rings, bracelets, or any such items in the exam hall.
- Candidates must not wear hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, and mufflers.
- Candidates wearing shoes will have to face prolonged checking procedures. So, try to wear sandals or slippers.

JEE Main Dress Code for Females
All the female aspirants who are appearing for the JEE Main 2025 are advised to follow the Dress Code provided by NTA which is stated below.
- Female candidates must wear light and comfortable clothes considering the season and weather on examination day.
- Candidates must not wear metallic items or any cloth or items containing metal— like belts, underwired bras, etc.
- A normal T-shirt and jeans, or a top ( or kurta ) with leggings are advisable. Cotton, Khadi, and other breathable fabrics must be preferred.
- Candidates must not wear any jewellery, ornaments, goggles, rings, bracelets, etc.
- Do not wear fancy stoles, scarfs, caps, watches, sunglasses, etc.
- Do not wear long-sleeved clothes or trousers with too many pockets.
- Candidates must avoid wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, stoles, and shawls.
- Candidates wearing shoes have to face prolonged checking procedures. Hence, try to wear sandals or slippers.
- Try not to wear clothes with big buttons and badges.
- Complicated hairstyles like a bun will lead to a longer frisking session.

What you must bring to the exam hall?
There are many items that you must bring to the examination centre for a smooth transaction during the entire examination. The list of all important documents and belongings to carry to the examination are -
- JEE Main Admit Card
- One passport-size photograph.
- One photo ID proof – PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhaar Card.
- Hand sanitiser.
- A transparent ballpoint pen.
- PwD certificate issued by the Authority, if claiming the relaxation under the PwD category.
What not to bring in the exam hall?
There are certain items that are not allowed to be brought inside the examination hall at any cost, if it is not followed then the candidate has to face some serious consequences.
The list of banned items inside the examination hall are -
- Metallic Objects
- Purse Or Handbags
- Electronic Gadgets – Calculators, Slide Rules, Camera, Mobile, Smartwatches, Etc.
- Water and Eatables
- Any Digital/ Smartwatch
- Any Stationery Materials Like Paper, Books, Notebooks, Etc.
It may be noted that the candidates appearing for the B.E. Architecture test (Paper 2) are allowed to carry a geometry box set, pencils, erasers, colour pencils, and crayons.

Relaxation for Diabetic candidates
There are many restrictions and guidelines for the majority of the candidates but at the same time some relaxation is given to those candidates who are Diabetic.
Below is the list of some DO’s and DON’Ts for Diabetic candidates.
- Candidates will be allowed to carry eatables like fruits such as bananas, apples, or oranges.
- They can also carry sugar tablets and water in a transparent bottle.
- They will not be allowed to carry packaged foods like sandwiches, chocolates, or candy.
