Given:

Petrol poured = 50 litres

Tank is 10% empty.

Formula used:

Total capacity of the tank = Petrol poured ÷ (1 - % filled)

Petrol to be added = Total capacity - Petrol already poured

Calculation:

Total capacity = 50 ÷ (1 - 0.10)

⇒ Total capacity = 50 ÷ 0.90

⇒ Total capacity = 55.56 litres
