Given:

Average weight of 15 persons is 30 kg.

A new person whose weight is 78 kg joins the group.

To find:

The average weight of 16 persons.

Solution:

The total weight of 15 persons is 15 * 30 = 450 kg.

When the new person joins the group, the total weight becomes 450 + 78 = 528 kg.

The average weight of 16 persons can be calculated by dividing the total weight by the number of persons:

Average weight of 16 persons = (Total weight of 16 persons) / (Number of persons)

= 528/16

= 33 kg

Therefore, the average weight of 16 persons is 33 kg.
