Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Number of employees in sector T = 1250
Number of employees in sector R = 1000
Ratio of male to female employees in sector T = 17 : 8
Ratio of male to female employees in sector R = 3 : 7
Calculations:
Let the number of males and females in sector T be 17x and 8x, respectively.
Let the number of males and females in sector R be 3y and 7y, respectively.
The total number of employees in sector T = 1250
17x + 8x = 1250
⇒ 25x = 1250
⇒ x = 1250 / 25 = 50
Number of males in sector T = 17x = 17 × 50 = 850
The total number of employees in sector R = 1000
3y + 7y = 1000
⇒ 10y = 1000
⇒ y = 1000 / 10 = 100
Number of females in sector R = 7y = 7 × 100 = 700
Ratio of males from sector T to females from sector R:
Ratio = \(\dfrac{850}{700} = \dfrac{17}{14}\)
∴ The ratio between the number of males from sector T to the number of females from sector R is 17:14.
