After a month, the cost of 4 kg of apples and 3 kg of grapes was Rs. 300.

Concept Used:

Let the cost of 1 kg of apples be x.

Let the cost of 1 kg of grapes be y.

Calculations:

Representing the given situations algebraically, we get

2x + 2y = 160 ⇒ 4x + 4y = 320 ------(1)

4x + 3y = 300 ----(2)

Now, subtracting (2) from (1), we get

4y - 3y = 320 - 300

⇒ y = 20 ---(3)

Substituting (3) in (2), we get

4x + 3(20) = 300

⇒ 4x + 60 = 300

⇒ 4x = 240

⇒ x = 60

Hence, the cost of apples (per kg) is Rs. 60.
