Question
Download Solution PDFThe graph of the equation x – y = 5 intersects the y-axis at P(α, β) and the graph of x + y = 5, intersects the x-axis at Q(γ, δ) what is the value of α + β + γ + δ?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The given expressions are x - y = 5 and x + y = 5
Calculation:
We have x - y = 5 ----(1)
and, x + y = 5 ----(2)
Since equation (1) intersect at y axis, so x = 0
So, 0 - y = 5
⇒ y = -5
So, P(α, β) = (0, -5)
And, equation (2) intersect at x axis, so y = 0
So, x + 0 = 5
⇒ x = 5
So, Q(γ, δ) = (5, 0)
Now, α + β + γ + δ = 0 + (-5) + 5 + 0
⇒ 0
∴ The value of α + β + γ + δ is 0.
